Roadway/Traffic Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced engineer in roadway and/or traffic design and analysis who is eager to advance their career to the next level. In this position, you will be central in designing and producing plans for FDOT (and local government) roadway and safety projects. Primary Responsibilities and Activities

  • Perform and lead design and plan production for FDOT and local government projects
  • Develop and review design and plans using MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
  • Contribute engineering input to public involvement, agency coordination, and client reviews
  • Coordinate across disciplines with roadway, drainage, traffic, structures, geotechnical, and environmental teams to ensure cohesive design packages
  • Prepare quantities using FDOT’s Basis of Estimates (BOE) and assist with project cost estimates
  • Create design documentation, memos, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
  • Perform internal quality control for design plans, models and documentation for accuracy and compliance with FDOT and local requirements
  • Develop and manage projects’ scopes, production sequence, schedule, and budget
  • Provide technical guidance and mentor members of our growing transportation design group
  • Contribute to winning project pursuits from existing clients and new clients, building upon our strong and growing client relationships

Background and Fundamental Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with an active FL PE license (in good standing)
  • 4+ years of experience as a Roadway/Traffic Engineer in FDOT projects
  • Proficiency in MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
  • Ability to lead multiple interdisciplinary teams to design and produce construction plans
  • Ability to develop project scopes, staff hour, fee estimates and schedules for new projects
  • Ability to help market and develop new business through building and maintaining relationships
  • Excellent oral, written, and graphic communication skills
