Landis Evans, formerly Sprinkle Consulting, developed the pedestrian access and the downtown bicycle circulation elements of this comprehensive CBD study. Anchorage, Alaska, has a youthful population pursuing year-round recreation; it’s one of the most bicycle and pedestrian friendly cities in North America. The Plan enhances linkages among downtown commerce and visitor designations, while providing connections to the existing urban trail system and the suburban neighborhoods. The Sprinkle Team used the most advanced analytical tool available, the statistically calibrated Bicycle Level of Service Model, to evaluate the interaction and relationships between the vehicular/pedestrian/bicycle modes. This method, developed by Landis Evans + Partners, provides an objective ‘suitability measure for all streets and roads.
