City of St. Petersburg Bicycle and Pedestrian Master Plan

The Master Plan guides the development of the bicycle transportation, pedestrian transportation, and shared use path networks of the City of St. Petersburg. Tasks undertaken by Landis Evans + Partners, formerly Sprinkle Consulting, to develop this Plan include public involvement, development of vision and goals, assessment of current conditions, identification of needs and priorities, establishment of prioritized projects, and development of a future update evaluation process. The Plan development employs effective methods developed by Landis Evans such as the Bicycle Level of Service Model, the Latent Demand Method, and Community Open House Workshops. Road restriping, or ‘road diets, are a key method of developing on-street bicycle facilities. Extension of the Pinellas Trail and linkage to City / County parks are integral components of this proactive Plan. For pedestrians, one key element of the Plan is the application of innovative pedestrian crossing safety treatments on the City’s high-volume thoroughfares.
