This project connects the Courtney Campbell Causeway Bridge Trail to the Upper Tampa Bay Trail by making the corridor more ‘bikable’ through the implementation of ‘bike boulevard traffic calming techniques. Constraints such as existing utilities and a narrow right-of-way are being navigated through detailed reviews of existing studies, aerial photography examination, and a field review on-bike by Landis Evans + Partners, formerly Sprinkle Consulting, staff. Enhancing the corridor by adding shared lane markings (sharrows), a shared-use pathway, raised intersections, improved lighting, refuge islands, raised crosswalks, and speed pillows are among the options increasing the safety and appeal of this connecting corridor.
