Landis Evans + Partners, formerly Sprinkle Consulting, developed innovative survey techniques to profile the Las Vegas metropolitan area’s home-based work trips, transit linked travel, and social-recreational trips to identify bicyclists’ travel patterns and characteristics. The survey revealed individual characteristics of bicyclists, measured trip length, determined the time of day and day of the week of bicycle trips, discovered how far people ride to link to transit, and identified roadways and corridors where citizens desired bicycle facilities. Methods included trail intercept surveys, bike-on-bus surveys, and electronically distributed surveys to employers and universities. The Study provides information for the development of the Bicycle Master Plan to identify facility and program needs to increase the bicycle mode share and improve safety.
