This master bicycle plan promotes City-wide bicycling safety and neighborhoods’ interconnectivity. Landis Evans + Partners, formerly Sprinkle Consulting, identified operational and geometric improvements to major bike routes through the City of Rocky Mount. They performed detailed in-street on-bike evaluations of the identified routes and recommended specific short and long term modifications to improve the safety of the routes and bicyclists perceptions of comfort along the routes. These modifications included improving pavement conditions, providing options for turns and crossings at intersections with major roadways, and improving existing inter-neighborhood walkway connections to safely accommodate short cuts by bicyclists. The project also included a detailed review of numerous design standards available to the City of Rocky Mount and recommendations to revise the City’s design standards for bicycle facilities to provide a high level of accommodation to bicyclists. Landis Evans was a subconsultant to Kimley Horn.
